Hired by a major insurance company in 1994, Lien worked as an insurance defense lawyer to handle personal injury litigation cases. She was the managing attorney from 1999 to 2008 for the legal department of an insurance company in San Diego County.

While working as an insurance defense lawyer, Lien took on pro bono family law cases. In addition, she assisted her brother and husband, who are both lawyers, while they were in private practice with their family law and business litigation cases.

After years of working for a major insurance company and self-reflection, Lien realized her vision of having her own practice in 2008. It took an incredible amount of courage and planning for Lien to take the risk of going out on her own.

On her growth since starting her own practice, Lien says, "I have become a much better lawyer as I have to be very resourceful to represent individual injured clients. I have to find ways to overcome the successful campaigns of large corporations that label injured victims as 'greedy' and 'anti-American'." So many people have unfortunately and unknowingly forfeited their rights as a result of the fears and guilt of being branded for "milking the system" and filing "frivolous lawsuits." Her awareness of this hurdle fuels Lien not only to fight for her clients, but also to help bring awareness to the community of their legal right to compensation for their injuries.

Since starting her own practice in 2008, Lien has obtained millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements for her clients. Lien has successfully tried many personal injury cases in Orange, Los Angeles, and San Diego counties. Over her twenty-seven years of litigation practice, she has resolved hundreds of cases through mediations and arbitrations.

In August 2011, Lien obtained a $12.3 million verdict for her clients at trial in a brain injury motor vehicle accident case. The offer prior to trial was $150,000.00.

In May 2015, Lien obtained a $277,500.00 verdict at trial in a case involving a client with chronic pain due to soft tissue injury from a motor vehicle accident. Her client's medical bills were $17,500.00. Prior to trial, Defendants' insurance company thought that their offer to settle for $38,000.00 was more than generous because he did not miss any work, and was able to complete a 15 mile bike ride in Mexico.

From 2016 to 2021, Lien obtained multi-million dollar settlements for elder abuse/neglect wrongful death cases.

In 2019, Lien obtained a $425,000.00 verdict at trial in a case involving a client with a mild disc herniation injury from a motor vehicle accident. Prior to trial, Defendants' insurance company offered $150,000.00 to settle as they did not believe that she would require surgery for such a small herniation. In addition, they had sub rosa evidence that she was able to carry on with all normal daily activities with ease.

In 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 Lien was awarded the distinction of Super Lawyer for San Diego, which recognizes excellence in the practice of law. Only 5% of lawyers are selected to the Super Lawyers list each year.

LIEN T. TRAM, Esq.

Lien was born in Nha Trang, Vietnam. At the end of the Vietnam War in 1975, Lien was twelve years old when she immigrated to the United States with her family. As a teenager, Lien overcame the language barrier by putting in 4 to 5 hours a night to look up each word in the English dictionary she needed to know for her assignments. She also overcame economic hardship by working as a waitress from high school through college to help support her family and put herself through school. Lien was the first in her family to attend college.

From an early age and through her life experiences, Lien learned the value of perseverance, hard work, and dedication.  Since she was 8 years old, Lien wanted to be a lawyer. She loved people and dreamed of making the world a better place. Her passion for the law and its power to facilitate fairness and equal justice compelled Lien to focus on doing whatever it took to become a lawyer.

Before pursuing a career in law, Lien worked as a liability adjuster, investigator, negotiator, litigation adjuster, and claims supervisor for major insurance companies from 1986 to 1994. While working full time and raising a family, Lien attended law school at Western State University in Orange County. In law school, Lien received the American Jurisprudence Award for family law and tort classes. She graduated in 1993 and earned a tax certificate with her J.D. degree.
